Letter from Betsie: Introducing our LiftWear Tank
May 6, 2020
We're so excited to announce that finally, after a year of brainstorming, sketching, sampling and fine-tuning, our LiftWear Tank is here! This garment is a true labor of love, and the Honeylove team and I are delighted to share it with you.
The design process
The LiftWear Tank took over a year to create. We’ve always been committed to the value of sample making and fit testing on real bodies, and that usually starts with me and the girls in the office. An average day in the Honeylove design room involves trying on a new sample we made yesterday, wear-testing it, and figuring out how we can make it work and look better. For reference, our first product — the SuperPower Short — took us two years and countless prototypes to perfect. We move more quickly now, but we still make many prototypes of every single product, wear-test, and survey our team members and customers before putting anything into production.
I’m not kidding when I say every single detail and feature on the tank has been debated, revised and tested multiple times. I know logically we can’t make everyone happy 100% of the time, but the pursuit of perfection drives me nonetheless. The process doesn’t stop once a garment is live; we listen to every single piece of customer feedback we receive to make sure you’re getting the best possible product for your money. It’s a lot of work, but we genuinely love making things our customers will wear and adore.
Ditch the bra
Let’s talk bras. The one thing we can all agree on is that the decision to wear one (or not) is totally personal. That said, sometimes going braless is not always possible or comfortable. That’s why it was so important to us that we create a tank with built-in bust support. Now, every woman has a viable clothing option that provides the benefits of a traditional underwire bra without discomfort of an underwire. Plus, our tank is totally seamless, meaning you won’t get that pesky bra bulge at your back or the cutting in of an underwire after a long day.
Bonded technology
Another special element is the tank’s bonded construction. In order to get the tank to look completely smooth underneath clothing, we swapped out traditional sewn seams for an advanced bonding technique that fuses fabric layers together. This process can only be done by a select number of factories, so it’s a super special detail that really sets it apart from other tanks on the market.
Our signature X
In most of our garments, you'll find an X of targeted compression across the mid-section. We modified this concept and created a smoothing version specifically for our tank. This smart design gives you a little extra hold in the tummy area where you want it and eases off everywhere else to make this garment comfortable enough for all-day wear.
I can’t wait for you all to try the LiftWear Tank. If you order one, please let us know what you think. Our customers are our biggest source of inspiration, and our team is ready and listening.
Xo,
Betsie Larkin, CEO and founder
